A game of Snakes and Ladders
A healthy turnout of 16 B14s enjoyed close racing with almost every boat leading a race at shifty Stokes Bay on 16-17 April for round 2 of the GUL B14 circuit. B14 turnouts are on the up as the class builds towards the Europeans and Worlds in Garda at the end of June where 40+ boats are expected with 2 Australian containers already on their way.

Round 1 of the B14 Gul TT series took place at Rutland Water over the 2nd and 3rd of April. With this being a “Garda year” interest in the class is high, leading to keenness amongst existing members and also the welcome return of some old faces (some older than others). The potentially most dangerous returnee, Nick Craig, was away topping up his tan in Barbados sailing a type of 14ft dinghy with a rather more general purpose. With decidedly more clement weather than last year’s event 10 boats turned up all of which could be top 10 championship contenders, so nobody was guaranteed immunity from a back-of-the-fleet result in any race.

GBR 795 Team GUL/North Sails, a new boat in late 2015, and winner of the B14 inlands 2015 and Seavolution Winter Pursuit Series 2015 - 2016 will be on the stand. Some of you will have seen her on the GJW winter series, and on VRSport or Youtube. Have a look and get a taste of what the B14 can achieve. Only 3 events remain of the Seavolution Winter Series be sure to get your entries in to these events to avoid disappointment as places are limited.
At the time of writing we have 4 B's entered for Grafham, 8 for Starcross and 1 for the Tiger Trophy. Starcross is looking like a fantastic turnout for a winter event, a social has been organised for the night before (Contact Tony for details)
So dig out those hats, thermals and winter wetsuits and get signed up to the remaining events, as they say - You've got to be in it to win it.
