B14 Winter Pursuit Team - Race Series - Sunday, October 26, 2008
Folks, the winter is now here and it will soon be time to show the unconverted what a great boat we have. This has been an incredibly successful team building exercise over the last two years. We now have clubs contacting us to ask if we are attending as we leave a great impression. So if you fancy doing one or more of the winter majors, give it some thought and let either Dan, myself or Mark Emmett know via the thread on the forum as we want to make this a truelly great winter for the B14s. So as they say Rock & Roll and party on down.
They are - Lee-on-Sea Brass Monkey (Southend), Bloody Mary (Queen Mary), Steve Nicholson Memorial (Northampton), Tiger Trophy (Rutland), Hoo Freezer (Medway), Starcross Steamer (Starcross - Exeter), Ovington Pursuit Series (Excel London Boat Show).
The more of you that can attend the more dynamic it will be. If only one event that would be great and it's great for learning technique from the top teams. With some of us in AUS at the Worlds, its your chance to star and invest in the yours and the class's future.

Training/Racing till Christmas - Sunday, October 26, 2008
Rutland will be running a Skiff training series over the weekends leading up to Christmas. This is run by Richard Stenhouse (Sten) and Steve Tylecote. Nick/Toby and ourselves attended last year and highly recommend it. You can attend daily or on a weekend basis and the club has great bunk rooms at cheap prices.
Grafham Water will be running their winter Skiff series on Sundays throughout the winter to Christmas. Some B14s will be attending and definitely one to sharpen your technique.
Both are worth attending and believe B14s will be attending both. So dust off those drysuits and make the effort. The guys attending Hobart will be at one or other.

Our stand, B48 is in the main hall 3/4 of the way up the lefthand side adjoining Ovington. So we will see you there over the weekend if you're attending. On the stand will be entry forms for the Nationals at Brightlingsea and Membership forms for those still to join/rejoin. With an action packed year and some exciting developments to be announced shortly, 2008 can only build on 2007. Bye for now, Barnsie

Bloody Mary - Saturday, January 12, 2008
There were 10 B14s that attended the event. Travelling from as far Newcastle and Newton Abbot. Though the course was not suitable to us, 758 Tim/Harrison/Jonny Radcliffe took the lead for the first half of the race. However they were joined by Seavolution/Blue Marine - Barnsie/Pete and battle ensued with the latter winning by 2 boat lengths. CSC Chris Bines/Dave Gibbons got the better of 762 Mark Elkington/Charlie Game followed by the other 6. A good day to meet friends and have good racing. New members to the fleet turned up and gave a good showing.

Class Membership - Saturday, February 09, 2008
Folks, we now have on the database, a complete list of class members that is maintained on the basis of when we receive your form/subscription, we add you to the system. This list (name, member and boat numbers only), will be forwarded to clubs running B14 TT events and Nationals etc. during the week prior to the event. Part of the entry from will require you to confirm you are a member of the B14 Class Association. There will be no grey area and if there is a situation where you have only just bought the boat, hand membership form and cheque to the person taking entries on entering. We have had to take this measure due to a small minority of people abusing the goodwill of others. Also to appear on the Teams page and be in the Buddy System, you also have to be a member or you will be outside the system. So get the membership in fast to be included.
|
Buddy System 2008 and Membership - Monday, January 28, 2008
Folks, we are aiming to have the new Buddy System for 2008 up and running before the Dinghy Exhibition (01.03.2008). To enable us to make this work, we need all of the membership and those thinking of joining to pay their dues in the next couple of weeks. This will help us in the administration of the system and enable us to give all the best we can in 2008. We have some more dynamic ideas for this year, so even those who usually pay late, dig deep and make the effort and yes it is cheaper. This will help Trish and the rest of the committee in running 2008's training and Association management. So help us to help you. Bye for now, Barnsie

Winter Pursuit Series off to Flying Start - Thursday, January 10, 2008
With the start of the Winter Pursuit Series starting on Boxing Day at Leigh-on-Sea, the class is off to a flying start. Seavolution/Blue Marine (Barnsie and Pete) won the Brass Monkey. Following on from this 10 B14s attended the Grafham Grand Prix and were the biggest assymetric fleet. Real stars were B14 776 (Dick and Kate) just nosed into 3rd by Seavolution/Blue Marine with another 4 boats in the top 10. Following on from this we had B14 774 (Piers and Guest Pete Nichlson) win the Blackwater Icicle. Though not World domination, think we ahve certainly got the other fleets talking. This weekend is the Bloody Mary and looking like another 10+ turnout. Biggest so far for the winter is 13 confirmed entries for the Tiger Trophy. We are also guesting at the Ovington Race Series at EXCEL start 1400 19.01.2008 and the following day Ince&Co and Seavolution/Blue Marine will be sailing in the Battle of the Classes. On the hard will be B14 761 (Mark Emmett). So if you have nothing going on, come and support the teams and enjoy the day. We are looking for further teams to attend the Steve Nicholson and Weston Warmups both on the 26.01.2008. Have fun and see you all soon.
