B14 National Championships 2025/26: Day 4

Day four delivered near-perfect B14 conditions, allowing the fleet to complete an excellent three-race program.

A familiar south-easterly breeze set in early at around 12 knots with gusts to 17, gradually building through the afternoon to 17 knots with gusts into the low 20s. The conditions produced fast, physical racing and plenty of action across the fleet.

Race 7, a two-lap contest, got underway at 14:05 and saw a change at the top of the results sheet. RSC Side Effects (Renee & Rob Cordingley) held Snatch at bay to claim the win, finishing 19 seconds clear of The Nude (Richie Reynolds & Lissa McMillan) in second, with Snatch (Craig Garmston & Paul Fleming) rounding out the podium in third.

Race 8, a three-lapper, started at 15:09 in a building breeze, and the familiar order returned at the front. Snatch took the win by 18 seconds from The Nude in second, while Rocket Ship (Nick Richardson & Natalia Wisniewska) secured third, just two seconds ahead of RSC Side Effects.

Following a course reset, Race 9 - a four-lap test - got away at 16:13. By this stage the breeze was delivering some exhilarating downwind rides for the fleet. Once again, Snatch took the gun, finishing 20 seconds ahead of Rocket Ship in second, with The Nude completing the podium in third.

The breeze throughout the day was close to ideal for the B14s, and there were numerous “races within races” right across the fleet.

Tomorrow sees the final race, Race 10, with a forecast of light and variable breezes set to provide a contrasting finish to the series.
